Once a year the boys and girls in Sabugal, Central Portugal organise a historic passeio among the castles, mountains, valleys and small towns in the Guarda district. Ive attended for the last 4 years now, and I'm generally the only English guy there. The October 2024 event started at 9am with breakfast at the Municiple building in the centre of Sabugal. As the cars rolled in, I noticed a few beauties straight away.
The trip took us through the City of Sabugal, and out into the countryside stopping at various locations for drinks and food. (The Portuguese do not do things by halves).
Visiting old villages, and beautiful castles like Sortehla where the locals came out and waved as we furiously beeped the horns, to attract attention, and stopping to chat about engines, suspension, classics and anything car related.
There was a vast array of different makes, from Datsun, Citroen, Mazda, Ford etc and some favourites on the day were, the Fiat Abarth pictured above, and the blue Renault 5 GTT. About 70 cars turned out for the event, which ended back in Sabugal with a Hog Roast, and more food and drink. The amosphere was very friendly, and I was glad to be invited again to the meeting.

The event is organised by a few volunteer people, mainly Ricardo Clara, of Sabugal. Who owns Auto Clara, a car repair business in town. If you want to find out more you can head to their Facebook page
I hope to see you there later this year!
If you do go, look out for me in my Fiat 128 pictured below. Or send me a message via Project: Drive for more information. Im always happy to talk cars
